As you head a little further north, on the right, you will come to the T own of Carefree with it's quaint shops, restaurants and eclectic streets named Easy St., Tranquil Way and Ho Hum. You can see upscale homes hanging to the steep slopes on Black Mountain. becomes Tom Darlington and you won't be able to miss The Boulders, The Boulders Resort and a The Golden Door Spa.Īs you continue north past the Boulders on Tom Darlington, Black Mountain rises dramatically on your left. Just past the intersection of Scottsdale and the Carefree Highway, Scottsdale Rd. The el Pedregal Marketplace, which offers upscale shopping and dining experiences, will be next on your right. Terravita, the upscale Del Webb golf and tennis community is on your left just before you reach the intersection of Scottsdalel Rd. The Boulders that you see in the picture above are located at the intersection of Scottsdale Rd. North of Happy Valley Rd., watch for signs identifying the desert trees and plants. Wise city planning has hidden some of Scottsdale's finest residences, shopping and dining experiences behind dense vegetation that makes them virtually invisible from the road. ![]() Don't be misled by the austere desert environment. As you continue north you gain elevation and you enter into the rugged high Sonoran Desert of North Scottsdale.
